INTERNET permission — so it cannot send anything to the internet or to us. The only data that ever leaves the app does so on your explicit action: an optional Pebble smartwatch integration (relayed locally to your watch) and bug/crash reports you choose to email. Nothing is ever sent to a server.
Everything the app keeps lives on your device and is removed when you uninstall it. Specifically:
The app can optionally connect to a Pebble smartwatch so you can start and stop tracking and pick a task from your wrist, and see your status on the TimeStyle watchface. This feature is off by default and only active once you enable it.
When it is enabled, the app shares with the Core Devices Pebble companion app installed on your phone, which relays it over Bluetooth to your paired watch: your current tracking status, the active task, your task list, and work-time / target / budget figures. Task names may contain personal or work-related text.
This information travels only between your phone and your own watch. The app does not transmit it to any server — it has no internet access. The Pebble companion app is a separate product with its own privacy policy.
Every permission is used strictly for the feature it belongs to. The app does not use any of them for advertising, analytics, or profiling, and it does not request the INTERNET permission.
| Permission | Purpose |
|---|---|
ACCESS_COARSE_LOCATION, ACCESS_FINE_LOCATION, ACCESS_BACKGROUND_LOCATION |
Only if you enable location-based tracking: detect when you arrive at and leave your workplace, to clock you in and out. Coarse location is used (no GPS), and all location data stays on your device. |
ACCESS_WIFI_STATE, CHANGE_WIFI_STATE, NEARBY_WIFI_DEVICES |
Only if you enable Wi-Fi-based tracking: detect when your workplace Wi-Fi network is in range, to clock you in and out. |
FOREGROUND_SERVICE, FOREGROUND_SERVICE_LOCATION, RECEIVE_BOOT_COMPLETED, REQUEST_IGNORE_BATTERY_OPTIMIZATIONS |
Keep automatic tracking running reliably in the background and after a reboot. The background service is disabled by default. |
POST_NOTIFICATIONS, VIBRATE |
Show the optional work-day notification, and vibrate on location-based clock-in / clock-out if you enable it. |
If the app crashes, it can offer to send a crash report to the developer; you can also send your logs from a menu item. In both cases the report is attached to an email that your own email app sends to bugs.trackworktime@sykero.fi — the app itself transmits nothing, and only if you choose to send it. The report does not include your tracked times or places, but the appended log file might contain personal data; if so, it is kept strictly confidential and used only to identify the problem. You are welcome to review and anonymize the log before sending.
